About
Gaylord House & Gardens, a charming Victorian farm setting just 45 miles southwest of Chicago, opened in 2014 for outdoor weddings, rustic receptions, family celebrations and company events. The five-acre property features a striking brick Italianate farmhouse built in 1865 by Gilbert Gaylord and all the original farm buildings. The corn crib, which will later house a gallery and gift shop, is available for event rental (up 50-60 guests); the livestock barn is where the alpacas, Nellie the llama and assorted feathered friends frolic. And the original hog yard has been transformed into a lovely patio with fire pit. The property also has many beautiful garden areas and a pergola created from original porch posts. Larger events (up to 100 guests) will utilize a tent set up adjacent to the corn crib.
